Idaho National Laboratory – Marine Energy Integration Analysis
Capabilities include:
- Microgrid testing
- Cost and Performance modeling
Description
INL has extensive modeling and hardware testing expertise in systems that could be integrated with marine energy technologies. Examples include microgrids that include a mixture of technologies and configurations, hydrogen production and storage, and hybridization with other assets such as offshore wind and/or batteries. Our modeling and numeric analysis capabilities within these topics include development and use of specialized tools fit-for-purpose to conduct these types of analysis. Some, such as the Xendee platform, are commercial tools that INL helps do-develop and implements for custom configurations; others, such as FORCE (used for modeling hydrogen production as part of integrated energy systems) have been developed in-house at INL.
