• Applicant

A person or group that submits an application for TEAMER support through an RFTS. These can be developers or researchers from industry or academia.

  • Capability

In TEAMER, a Capability refers to a specific technical service, research area, or test that is offered to applicants through an organization in the Facility Network (e.g., Environmental Effects Assessment, Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics, Acoustic Modeling, Dynamometry, Tribology, etc.).

  • CFD

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a numerical analysis technique commonly used to model fluid-device interactions for ME applications.

  • CRADA

When performing work at National Labs, projects are not funded using task orders. Instead, the national lab will employ a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA). These agreements will be negotiated between the lab (who performs the work), the TSR (requesting the work), and the DOE’s Hydropower and Hydrokinetic Office (funding the work).

  • DOE

    U.S. Department of Energy

  • Dynamometry

In a marine energy context, Dynamometry refers to the measurement and analysis of mechanical forces, power, torque, and efficiency involved in marine energy converters (i.e., devices that harvest energy from waves, tides, and currents), often focusing on study of these devices’ Power Take-Off (PTO) systems.

  • EIA

An Environmental Impact Assessment (or Analysis) is a process that evaluates the potential environmental, social, and economic effects of a proposed project or development.

  • Facility

In TEAMER, a Facility refers to an individual research group or laboratory that has applied, gone through review, and been approved by the Technical Board to provide support services to Technical Support Recipients (TSRs) as a member of the TEAMER Facility Network. A Facility may exist as part of an Organization (e.g., a large University or National Lab with many departments or research groups) in the TEAMER Facility Network, or it may exist independently (e.g., a smaller, specialized lab).

  • FEA

    Finite Element Analysis

  • FOA

FOAs, or Funding Opportunity Announcements, are official notices of upcoming government agency projects. FOAs include details like funding amount, project requirements, and application/deliverable deadlines. The TEAMER bidding process was announced via FOA DE-FOA-0002012.
